Istanbul to host Turkey-Africa Second Economic and Business Forum

The second edition of Turkey-Africa Economy and Business Forum will take place in Istanbul next week.

Scheduled to take place on 10-11 October 2018 at Istanbul Lutfi Kirdar ICEC, the forum is mainly aimed at promoting Turkish and Africa investments through analyzing trade and economic relations between Africa and Turkey; evaluating Turkey’s approach to investment in Africa; facilitating interaction between the two business communities and initiating dialogue between Turkish investors, the AU and the RECs. It is also aimed at highlighting the Expectations engendered by Agenda 2063 as a program for social, economic and political transformation that will make Africa a prosperous, united and economically independent Continent.

Prof. Victor HARISON Commissioner for Economic Affairs of the African Union Commission said, "Through promoting multilateralism, the African Union is rapidly increasing its partnerships with global regional and leading country partners, while simultaneously developing and promoting strategic sector plans for inclusive and catalytic growth in important economic areas such as: agriculture, Construction, infrastructure, Tourism and manufacturing. At the same time, the continent’s ultimate policy making body is also becoming more of an advocate for private sector growth and seeking to pursue greater public-private sector collaboration and to stimulate increased intra-African trade and investment.

"To support these efforts, this Second Africa-Turkey Economic and Business Forum is intended to serve as a useful business and investment linkages for both public sector policy-makers and private sector in Africa, as well as Turkey. The aim is to promote and strengthen collaboration and existing opportunities in Africa and Turkey and make available a platform for government representatives, investors, private sector representatives, and financial institutions from Turkey and Africa to explore investment and business opportunities in both sides. I therefore welcome you all to this important event which we are positive and without any doubt will enhance investments opportunities across Africa and Turkey."

The premier event will be attended by economy, trade and finance Ministers from African countries, chairs and presidents of chambers, NGOs, business associations and professional organizations, the commissioners of AUC and secretary generals of African regional economic communities, representatives of African Development Bank (AfDB) and other financial institutions, diplomatic missions, press members, business people and investors both from Turkey and the Continent.
